What this code means
The dishwasher believes too much water has entered the tub and may run the drain pump to limit overflow. A sticking inlet valve, water-pressure problem, flow-sensing fault or control issue can cause FE.
Most likely causes
- The inlet valve is mechanically stuck open or contaminated with grit
- House water pressure is outside the appliance operating range
- The flow meter is not measuring incoming water correctly
- The main control is energizing the inlet valve when it should be closed
Safe checks for the owner
- Turn off the dishwasher, close its water supply and switch off the breaker.
- If water continues entering with power off, keep the supply valve closed and arrange service.
- Check for unusually high or low home water pressure through a plumber when suspected.
Estimated U.S. repair cost
$220–$480, depending on model, access, parts availability and local labor.
