What this code means
The control is not receiving the expected closed-and-locked door signal. The washer will not run normally until the door, latch and electrical interlock are confirmed.
Most likely causes
- The door is not fully closed or clothing is trapped in the opening
- The door, hinge or latch is misaligned or warped
- The door-lock assembly or wiring connection has failed
- A low-voltage power condition, control fault or, on some models, another component is interfering with the lock circuit
Safe checks for the owner
- Open the door, remove trapped clothing and close it firmly without slamming.
- Inspect the latch opening and door strike for visible damage or detergent buildup.
- Unplug the washer for ten minutes and retry a short cycle.
Estimated U.S. repair cost
$180–$360, depending on model, access, parts availability and local labor.
